Vault of Ungodly Horror #51

“Transfiguration”

Somewhere. Earth-Tsan.

His body suddenly broke out into a cold sweat, and the tingling sensation had spread all over him. Why did he feel so weird? It didn’t hurt, it just didn’t feel right. But as he thought that, a sharp jab of pain suddenly split down his back. He gasped loudly, pressing a hand to the base of his spine where the pain had been the sharpest.

“What the hell was that?!?” Byron Abernathy cried out.

But as soon as the pain appeared, it vanished. He stood there for a moment trying to figure out what just happened and why.

For a few days now, Byron felt sick and cold. He had cramps all over his body. His hands were shaking and he felt as though his entire body was on fire. He clenched his teeth until they began to hurt. But everything else in his body was starting to hurt as well. His back exploded in pain and the numb sensation returned worse than ever to his hands. Then, a sudden flash of pain erupted through his entire chest, and he cried out in agony.

“Don’t fight it,” Master Alpha said, smirking. “If you fight it, it’ll only make it worse!”

“Get away from me!” Byron lashed out.

Master Alpha plunged a syringe deep into Byron’s shoulder.

Byron cried out in pain.

“What the hell are you doing to me?!?”

“You are becoming a basilisk!” Master Alpha replied. “A single glance can kill someone. It will be wondrous.”

The pain splitting across Byron’s entire body grew so great he collapsed to his knees. He was shaking from head to foot, hot tears streaming from his eyes.

“Don’t fight it,” Master Alpha repeated.

But Byron could barely pay him any attention. The pain was absolute hell.

“I’m not a monster!” Byron shouted, grimacing. “Go away!

The pain built in his hands and he pulled them up to his face. He let out a screech of pain as it continues to build until Byron felt like his hands were about to explode. The skin on my hand began cracking and shifting, becoming swamp-green in color. He stared in horror as his entire hands were covered in green scales. His fingers cracked sickeningly as they became longer, and black claws sprouted from his fingertips.

“No, This can’t be happening!” Byron cried out in horror.

He ripped off his sweatshirt, and saw green scales spread all up my arms. He once again looked down at his hands, which were now growing bigger and bigger. Suddenly, his middle and ring finger merged together, and my thumb shrunk back into his hand, leaving me with a three-fingered hand. My jaw dropped open to scream again, but the changes didn’t stop. He could feel something pushing out of his elbow painfully, and two long bone-like spikes emerged, one right over his elbow and another one just below the other. Byron looked to his other hand to see the same thing happening.

At this point, the shock of transforming had almost entirely blocked out the pain, and he could only stand there and watch in horror as the rest of his body twisted and changed. The scales covered his entire arms and shoulders, and he felt two other spikes pushing their way through the skin on his shoulders. They poked out and extended to about three or four inches and hooked towards his elbow. a semi-transparent membrane was attached to the two spikes, and he could feel the muscles in his arms and shoulders grow, ripping apart his t-shirt. The changes stopped temporarily, giving him time to look over his arms, now fully transformed into spiky reptilian limbs.

“This isn’t right!” Byron shouted. “This can’t be happening to me!”

Suddenly the changes started up again, and his back exploded in pain unlike anything he had ever felt before. He bent over forward, groaning, feeling his spine extending and changing. Something was pressing up against his back, and he could feel his vertebrae extending upwards, cracking sickeningly and ripping through his skin and top. Once it stopped, he spared a glance over his spiked shoulders. His back was covered in even more spikes. There was one particularly long one sticking just below his shoulder blades that was at least a foot and a half long, with the same membrane that was on his shoulders extending from its tip all the way back down to his back. There was one other shorter spike just in front of the bigger one, and he could feel three more spikes pop out of his spine just below the large one.

“What’s happening to me?!?” Byron scream.

Master Alpha smirked. “Just try to relax. It’ll be over soon.”

The last thing Byron wanted to do was relax. His entire body was in pain and changing into a monstrous form. He was terrified and near panicking. He doubled over as he felt his sides sear with pain. He screamed louder than ever before, wrapping my arms tighter around him. If he thought the pain before was bad, this was a thousand times worse. White-hot pain ripped Byron apart from the inside out, and he could hear bones snap and crack loudly inside of him. He felt his spine extending a little bit longer, and then he felt something pressing against his arms. His sides bulged outwards, and with a final shriek of pain, two extra sets of arms burst from his sides. Byron took one look down at them and screamed bloody murder.

“What the hell?! What the hell?! WHAT THE HELL?!”

Byron shrieked. He had four arms! Four freaking arms! These arms were just like his newly morphed reptile arms. They were covered in green scales, and had three clawed fingers with two spikes on the elbows. And the terrifying thing was that he could move them. They were a part of him now.

“I THOUGHT BASILISKS WERE SNAKES!” Byron bellowed. “SNAKES!”

He had no idea how to coordinate them all at once.

“Actually, basilisks do have multiple limbs,” Master Alpha told him.

Byron was about to yell at him some more, but the transformation continued. He felt something pushing out of his forehead. Raising a hand to his head, Byron felt a pair of horns sprouting from his forehead and growing bigger. They curved backwards slightly, and he felt two smaller ones grow in as well, also sprouting from his forehead. He lowered his hands, and then noticed his ears felt funny as well. He felt as if he could actually move them. When he touched them, Byron realized they had transformed into a fin-like shape. He could also feel the scales continue to creep all over his body, and ripple up the sides of his face. The base of his spine suddenly grew painful as well, and he twisted around in time to see something bulging in the seat of his pants. He clenched his teeth to keep himself from crying out again in pain.

“Now what?” Byron growled.

A long, whip-like tail suddenly grew from the base of his spine and curled around him, coated in green scales with spikes running along the top of it. He moved it back and forth, staring at it with a strange mix of awe and horror. At least it wasn’t as bad as growing an extra set of arms.

It was then his legs suddenly cramped up and Byron fell to his knees, with all four of his arms supporting his rapidly growing torso. He could feel his chest growing in size and his spine continued to lengthen, all the while with his feet and legs changing as well. His toes pushed against his shoes as if they had suddenly shrunk five sizes too small. With a sudden burst of pain, his feet ripped through them. But they had changed into scaly three-toed feet, with a long hooked spike protruding from his heels. The feet and toes grew in length and cracked loudly as they shaped into new forms, forcing Byron to stand on his toes. He felt his hips and spine snap, forcing him to stand on all six of my limbs.

He could tell the transformation was almost complete. He felt one last horn poking through his skull, and his entire body grew in size. What remained of his clothes ripped away, and the scales on his belly turned a lighter shade of green. The scales along my spine and tail grew darker in color as well.

Then, the final changes consumed his body. His skull seared with unbearable pain. He could feel his teeth lengthen and grow sharper, with new teeth poking their way through his gums. Byron let out a loud roar and felt his jaws lengthen into a long pointed snout. His tongue grew in length to fill his alligator-like jaws, and he felt two more spikes emerge from the tip of his snout, with one spike growing on his chin.

Byron let out a deafening roar as the final changes took place. He stood there, no longer a normal human man, but a great, giant six-legged lizard. He opened his eyes and hesitantly looked over his new unfamiliar body, taking in everything from the spikes on his nose to his long serpentine tail.

This day marked the beginning of Bryon’s new life. The life of a monster. Master Alpha’s monster.
